Lakshman Rekha

राम

During their forest exile, Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana lived in Panchavati. When Rama chased the golden deer and did not return for a long time, Sita grew anxious. She urged Lakshmana to go search for Rama. Lakshmana initially refused because Rama had entrusted him with Sita's protection. But when Sita insisted repeatedly, Lakshmana had to leave. Before departing, he drew a sacred line around their cottage using the tip of his arrow. He told Sita that this line would protect her and that she must not cross it under any circumstance. No evil force could breach this boundary. As soon as Lakshmana left, Ravana appeared disguised as a holy sage. He asked for alms. Sita tried to offer food from within the line, but Ravana cleverly manipulated the situation to make Sita step outside the protective boundary. The moment Sita crossed the Lakshman Rekha, Ravana revealed his true form and abducted her. This tale teaches us the vital importance of respecting protective boundaries and heeding the warnings of those who care for us.
