Lakshmi and the Washerwoman

लक्ष्मी

A poor washerwoman lived in a village. She was hardworking and honest. Every day she washed people's clothes and earned very little. But she never complained. She kept her home spotlessly clean and every evening lit a small lamp to worship Goddess Lakshmi. One Diwali night, Goddess Lakshmi wandered the earth to see who truly worshipped her with a sincere heart. In the homes of the wealthy, grand ceremonies were being performed, but their hearts were filled only with greed for more riches. In the washerwoman's tiny hut, a single small lamp burned brightly. She was praying with a pure heart, wishing well-being for everyone. Goddess Lakshmi was touched by her genuine devotion. She disguised herself as an old woman and appeared at the washerwoman's door. The washerwoman lovingly invited her inside and shared her simple meal. Pleased, Goddess Lakshmi blessed her. From the next day, prosperity entered the washerwoman's life, but she never abandoned her hard work and humility.

Moral
