Prahlad and Holika

विष्णु

Hiranyakashipu was a mighty demon king. He had received a special blessing from Lord Brahma that made him nearly impossible to defeat — no human or animal could harm him, not during day or night, not inside or outside any building. This power made him extremely proud, and he demanded that everyone worship only him. But his own son Prahlad was a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu. Prahlad chanted Vishnu's name all the time. This made Hiranyakashipu furious. He tried everything to stop Prahlad — he threatened him, threw him off a cliff, put him in a pit of snakes, and had elephants trample him. But every single time, Lord Vishnu protected young Prahlad from harm. Finally, Hiranyakashipu called his sister Holika. She had a magical power that made her immune to fire. Holika sat in a blazing fire with little Prahlad on her lap, planning to burn him. But by the grace of Lord Vishnu, Prahlad remained completely safe while Holika was consumed by the flames. We celebrate the festival of Holi to remember this victory of good over evil. Later, Lord Vishnu appeared as Narasimha, half-man and half-lion, and defeated Hiranyakashipu.

Moral
