Vamana Avatar

विष्णु

King Bali was an immensely powerful and generous demon king who had conquered all three worlds. The gods lost their heaven and sought Vishnu's help. Lord Vishnu incarnated as Vamana — a small Brahmin boy. Vamana arrived at King Bali's grand sacrifice. Bali asked what the young Brahmin desired. Vamana humbly requested just three paces of land. Bali's guru Shukracharya recognized Vishnu in disguise and warned Bali to refuse. But the honorable Bali declared that breaking a promise of charity is a sin. The moment Bali poured the ceremonial water to seal the gift, Vamana grew into a cosmic giant. With his first step, he covered the entire Earth. With his second step, he spanned all of heaven. Then he asked where he should place his third step. Bali bowed his head and offered it, saying to place the foot upon him. Vishnu was deeply pleased by Bali's extraordinary generosity. He made Bali the ruler of the netherworld and blessed him with the promise that one day he would become Indra.

Moral

A truly generous person never breaks their word.
